My house is so cold!
Forget terrorists, I'm gonna get myself some plastic and duct tape just to stop the drafts coming into this room. My hands are so cold I can barely type!
Wouldn't you know that just when we bought 75 pounds of American cheese slices Sam's Club, the kid decides he doesn't like them anymore? Sheesh. Looks like lots of grilled cheese sammiches for Daddy and me.

Did you know that Kenneth Cole and Tommy Hilfiger make shoes for infants and toddlers?
My god, my son grows out of shoes before I can get them home from the store! Why would I spend $45.00 on a pair of shoes he might wear twice? That's insanity!

No wonder I can't get better.
Yesterday it's 40, today it's already 63 degrees and climbing. And I can't' shake this cough. The little fella, however, is doing much better--he's back to gleefully throwing his lunch onto the floor. I know I woke him up last night with my coughing, because I heard him talking to himself in his room. Luckily he just went back to sleep and didn't start crying.
And now for the obligatory war comment
I wish we weren't doing this. I think the administration is just trying to distract us from the fact that the economy is in the toilet and we haven't gotten Osama yet. I think it's a colossal waste of money and lives. That said, now that we've started it, we damned well better finish it this time. And make sure we take care of the Iraqis afterwards.
This is when I wish my husband didn't work in a federal building.

Dammit!
Why couldn't they wait 10 more minutes to start the war? Now I'm missing the end of "Angel!"
What's that you say about my priorities???

Just to show you how sick the little guy is
He stopped playing and cuddled up on the floor next to his father and fell asleep. He has never, ever, in his short life, fallen asleep on the floor before. I don't think even as a newborn.

When it sucks to be a mom
Is when your little one is sick and there is nothing you can do about it. My poor little guy has a cold (I've got the same one), and a cough and a fever. The damned thing came on so fast--this morning he slept very late, which is unusual for him to say the least. Then, after being up for a couple of hours, he was suddenly on fire. Burning up, poor guy. And he felt so cruddy all he wanted to do was cuddle. He didn't even want to eat cottage cheese, which is his favorite.
Gave him Tylenol, the fever went down, called the doctor's office and talked to a nurse just to be sure nothing extra nasty was going around, and now he's napping. There has to be something going around, though, because I was on hold waiting for the nurse for several minutes, which never happens--usually they get to you in seconds flat (I looooooove my pediatricians!).
Poor guy. Other than a mild cold right before his birthday, this is the first time he's been sick. It's certainly the first time he's ever run anything more than the lowest of low-grade fevers. And I know that it'll pass, and that he'll feel better soon, but oh, the look in his eyes just kills me. And he's really been a champ about the whole thing, too, which makes it even worse, because I know he feels like crud--his body language just screams it--but he's been only slightly cranky.

You just know that when Dubya was young, he was one of those annoying little kids who would refuse to acknowledge that he had been tagged. You know the type:
"Tag! George, you're it!"
"Am not."
"Are too."
"Am not, because I was touching base."
"Were not. Base is the front stoop, you were touching the tree."
"I made the tree a secondary base!"
"When?!?"
"Just now before you caught me."
"You can't change the rules in the middle of the game! We all agreed that the front stoop is base!"
"Well, I don't recognize your power to make the rules, plus it's my yard and I can do whatever I want!"
And he's still doing that to this day.
